Summer in Vail
May 2023
Warm weather, hiking, biking, mountain top views, swimming pools, tasty food, music festivals, zip lines, mountain roller coasters and world-class shopping...all the things that can make a summer vacation truly special.  Not only do the multitude of outdoor summer activities stand-out but the "other" things make the place memorable.  Let me set the stage.

Vail is linked by four wonderful villages or base areas that offers different things for different folks. Each village is filled with a broad selection of restaurants, shopping and après ski hot spots. If you have never taken the time to research what "après ski" means, it is simply "what you are doing when you're not skiing". That is, it. That could mean drinking beer, dancing, sitting in a hot tub, fishing, hiking, or anything like that.

First, Vail Village. This is where you will find the most happening, the most restaurants, the most bars and the most shopping. It is the place to be seen. It is also on the path to Gondola ONE, which is the gondola to Vail Mountain. Lodging in Vail Village can be expensive, especially as you get closer to the ski lifts. As you get further away from the mountain, prices go down. Stay in Vail Village if you want all the action and can withstand some noise.

Second, Lionshead Village. From Vail Village, this base area is due west. Do not worry about getting there because the town of Vail operates a complimentary transportation shuttle that runs all day to these villages and well into the night. This allows you (and your pet) to get from bar to bar without the hassle of driving a car around. If you are not familiar or comfortable with driving in the snow, this is a huge benefit. Fun fact: the streets are heated! The village is home to The Eagle Bahn Gondola, The Ritz-Carlton and the world-renowned Garfinkel's and Tavern on the Square restaurants. I like staying at The Landmark, The Antlers, or Lion Square Condominiums. These are a short walk to the gondola and surrounded by shops and restaurants.

Third, Cascade Village.  This is where the Hyatt hotel offers ski/in ski/out skiing in the winter and a wonderful outdoor heated swimming pool that overlooks the Gore River.  The scenery here is enough to make the visit worth it. I like "Cascade" because it's easy to jump on the bike trail that follows the river all the way to Beaver Creek.  This is a quiet location without many restaurants or shopping but it's serenity at its best.  Choose from Hyatt hotel rooms or a vacation home in the area.  Feel right at home inside these alluring residences with various bed-type configurations, open entertainment space, full gourmet kitchen, a dining area, and picturesque mountain views.

Lastly, Golden Peak. Vail’s smallest base area is its quickest jumping off point to the powdery oasis of Blue-Sky Basin. Vail Mountain’s fourth base area is so overlooked, it almost has a mom-and-pop ski resort vibe. Lacking the crowds of Lionshead and Vail Village, Golden Peak is home to Vail Mountain’s ski school and serves as the home of a swank new clubhouse that is being built for the athletes of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail (alums include Lindsey Vonn and Mikaela Shiffrin). For lodging, you will be happy to stay at an area icon - Manor Vail Lodge. The customer service and hospitality, not to mention the hot tub scene, does not get much better than this in Vail. Manor Vail Lodge is one of Vail's original and iconic hotels. This Golden Peak gem delivers a peaceful yet convenient location to the slopes and offers a variety of accommodations to meet every traveler’s needs. With studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom condominiums plus luxury penthouses, Manor Vail Lodge has the perfect summer vibe. Not to mention, it has the closest accommodations to the Betty Ford Gardens and Ford amphitheater where concerts abound every week of the summer.

It is no secret that Vail is truly a magical place even in the summer. It is a favorite destination of many people around the world. That's why they keep coming back. I strongly recommend you travel here and try some of the exciting activities it has to offer. Even without the activities, the scenery is enough to make the visit worthwhile! Grab your best friend, save this post, and go to Vail in the summer (and winter, of course!) I promise, it will be one of the best decisions you have ever made!

Whether it is a sunny day and the white snow is glistening, or the snow is falling making the experience even more magical, you will forget that you are even exercising. Luckily, if you work up an appetite, the Snowmass Cross Country Center offers a snack bar and a restaurant.

2.  For the travelers looking for something a little bit more romantic, what more could you ask for than a horse-drawn sleigh ride to a delicious dinner at Pine Creek Cookhouse in the Aspen mountains? Bundle up in a cozy blanket and sip on a cup of hot chocolate as you make your way up through the snow. The gorgeous views of the stars are unlike any other, not to mention an incredible meal as well.

3.  If you are looking for kid-friendly adventures to enjoy with the whole family, spend the day snow tubing or sledding at the Carter Park Sled Hill in Breckenridge. This is a fun activity for all ages and is great on a sunny or snowy winter day. Be sure to pack some gloves and hot chocolate to keep you warm. Breckenridge is the perfect town to stroll with the entire family on Main Street checking out all of the shops, restaurants, and lights!

4.  Ice skating in the heart of town is a must-do activity if you make Keystone your destination of choice. Ice skating is such a timeless activity and can be enjoyed by everyone whether you are on a date or spending quality time with the family. Luckily, the rink is near all of the shops and restaurants, so there are plenty of places close by to watch or warm-up while the kids continue enjoying the fun. For any hockey players or figure skaters in the group, Keystone Lake becomes a wonderful place in the winter to skate while still enjoying mountain views.

5.  To end your vacation in the mountains on a high note, try snowmobiling at Camp Hale. This is a perfect activity for friends, families or couples wanting some adventure. Just a quick, beautiful drive from Vail or Beaver Creek, Nova Guides offers rentals and tours through Colorado’s historical 10th Mountain Division site. You can end the day with dinner at Camp Hale, or head back down the mountains for your choices of amazing restaurants in Vail or Beaver Creek Village.

Fall in Love with Colorado
What not to miss during the Autumn season at Colorado ski resorts

August 2021

Vail, Colorado

Temperatures begin to drop, and colors start to golden. Seeing the trees in the Rocky Mountains change from green to yellow is truly one of the most incredible sightings. The mountains become waves of yellow while the aspen leaves glisten against the sun. Do not let the term “off-season” fool you. Not only is fall in Colorado one of the most beautiful seasons, but there is still plenty of fun activities to do before the snow hits the ground. However you choose to spend your vacation, there is an endless amount of adventures for families, friends or solo-travelers.

Enjoy a variety of activities in Keystone or Breckenridge, like horseback riding, mountain biking or golf.  Take a scenic ride on the Eagle-Bahn gondola in Vail’s Lionshead Village, or hike to the top of the mountain on Berry Picker trail.  After your hike, you can enjoy lunch at Bistro 14 and ride the gondola back into town. If you are hoping to spend time on the water, grab your waders and do some late fall fly fishing on the Lower Eagle or Arkansas rivers. Wade in the water while the sunrise shines through the yellow trees. Maybe you prefer to take it easy. You cannot go wrong with a scenic drive to Aspen or Snowmass and staying at a beautiful mountain-view property to watch the golden colors shimmer right from your balcony. Be sure to make a trip to Maroon Bells to see the yellow aspen groves sit bright against the snow-covered peaks.

Believe it or not, many of Colorado’s Oktoberfest celebrations happen in September.  You can spend the weekend enjoying Bavarian food, music and games with the family if you choose to visit Vail or Beaver Creek. Vail Oktoberfest was named one of the best Oktoberfest celebrations in the nation and should not be missed. The Travel Advisors of Gondola Resorts are excited to help you book your trip to make your experience unforgettable. Typically, the leaves are at their peak of yellow from the middle of September to the beginning of October. Do not wait too long! The glistening colors come and go way too fast, but it is an experience that you will not want to miss.

Everything is included starting with your very own luxury 4 bedroom 5 bath vacation home  in downtown Aspen, airport limo transfers, baggage handling, lift tickets, ski lessons, equipment rentals and  grocery delivery.  Also, the package comes with a chef and private concierge to help with restaurant reservations and navigating the Covid-19 restrictions.

The $10,000 package covers the use of a new Cadillac Escalade or Range Rover delivered planeside at The Aspen Pitkin county airport.  That is, if you fly into Aspen in a private jet.  Otherwise, it will be waiting for you curbside.  The package doesn’t include private jet charter service but can easily be added.

While that price tag is admittedly high, it's less than the cost of a typical trip to Aspen if it’s “pieced-together”.  According to Gondola Resorts’ President & General Manager Gino Malara, the Aspen ski package will save guests about 40% by booking it in a package deal.

To accommodate most budgets,  there are Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze levels, which will correspond to the guest’s needs and the type of vacation home requested.  Choices includes 3-6 bedroom luxury rentals in downtown Aspen, Aspen Highlands and in Snowmass Village.  All inclusive 7-day ski packages in Aspen range from $4,500 to $50,000.

Ski Resorts to Avoid & Expert Guide to Choosing the Best One

October 2020

Vail's Lionshead Village

If you are still deciding whether or not to venture out into the "covid unknown" for your winter ski vacation, there are some things to consider when choosing the right location.  Where to go?  Is it safe?  How can I make the planning simple?  Can I make it affordable?  All of these questions we try to answer.  For instance, if you're concerned about Covid-19 on the slopes and keeping your family safe, you should think about alternate destinations that have plans in place for safety.  By following some simple wisdom from the experts, you'll not only come away with a safe memory-filled adventure, but might have some money left in your wallet on the return.

We've put together a list of five popular winter destinations to avoid and where you should go instead, along with reasons for each. If you're looking for peace of mind during this Covid-19 era, while choosing destinations with the kids in tow, this is the list for you.

(TIP: 6 Breathtaking Destinations to Spend Christmas with the Family)

Jackson Hole, Wyoming
If you're interested in a budget ski vacation, you might want to scratch Jackson Hole off of your list. Known as the ski resort that "eats your wallet", you have to have money to keep up. Lift tickets, restaurants and hotels are all pretty expensive, as are flights. And, while the bulk of the resort is family-friendly and provide adequate slopes, there will be unavoidable lines.

Affordable Alternative: Keystone, CO
Keystone Resort is an easy 90-minute drive from Denver International Airport.  Current rates on United and Southwest airlines are showing $189 roundtrip from Chicago and Los Angeles versus $608 to Jackson Hole. It's a more affordable, family-friendly winter destination where you and your kids can ski on more than 135 runs and some 3,148 skiable acres (19% beginner, 32% intermediate, 49% expert). You may experience lift lines on busy days, but on average crowds are lighter than Jackson Hole. You can also rent a nice sized cabin or condo with a hot tub, heated pool, BBQ grill and send your kids to ski or snowboard lessons with a 20% discount if you book lodging. Wintertime also brings opportunities to go ice-skating at Lakeside Village or walk around River Run Village. Stay at The Timbers or Lone Eagle, the only ski-in/ski-out resorts, offering easy access to skiing, where kids 12 and under ski and rent free.

Winter Park, Colorado
Winter Park is one of the most popular American travel destinations particularly during the winter season. There is no denying its appeal -- from its easy access from Denver to a slate of kid-friendly activities and beyond. However, the city is not a cheap vacation, with hotels and restaurants catering to tourists. You also may experience crowded slopes and long waits in restaurants both at Winter Park and Mary Jane (the neighboring and connected resort).

Easy Access and More Glitz & Glimmer: Aspen/Snowmass
For most people, going to Aspen/Snowmass is like leaving the country - it's much more exciting than a trip to Winter Park, and certainly much more exotic, making winter vacation a good time to go when the kids are out of school. It's also a safer choice because of the limted amount of people with strict Covid-19 regulations aimed to keep everybody safe. There are reasonably priced hotel options available for most, but you need an expert to find them - contact Gondola Resorts.  If you've never been to Aspen/Snowmass, than you've "never been".  With the likes of Cameron Diaz, Will Smith, Jeff Bezos, Paris Hilton and Mick Jagger roaming the streets on any given day, it will be memorable. You will also find shorter waits than Winter Park. The amenity-filled resorts include complimentary shuttle service to the airport, private concierge services, rental equipment delivered to your doorstep, heated pools and private chefs.  And, flying into Aspen's Pitkin County airport is an easy 3-mile ride to the center of town.  This will be a vacation you'll never forget.

Telluride, CO
There's no question Telluride is beautiful in the wintertime with its beautiful mountains, expansive homes and the world's second largest snowball. But why go during peak season when prices and crowds are at a sky high and you can get better deals on everything from food to lodging to flights at other times of the year? Telluride is difficult to travel as most flights don't go there --  Fly to Durango, CO.  If you have a private plane, it's easy on nice days.  However, because it's located in a box-canyon, flights are typically delayed and cancelled.

Best Skiing/Boarding Alternative: Vail, CO
Vail continues to rank as the number one destination for skiing in North America.  This is one of the most beloved resorts, hands down.  This is what we call the "heavy weight" of the ski industry.  Don't be fooled, others try to compare to Vail, but few come close. From the expansive amount of ski terrain, to the 5-star accommodations, Vail lives up to all of them.  On any given winter day, you can expect up to 2 feet of champagne powder to fall.  Parents will love the adventure as much as the kids, and more unspoiled, less crowded slopes. The Arrabelle, The Lodge at Vail Village, The Lion and Ritz-Carlton Residence Club are all 5-star accommodations steps to the slopes.  That being said, ask an expert travel planner how to navigate the costs.  You don't go to Vail on a budget, but you can find something that fits your taste and pocket book with the right expert advise. Everybody must wear face coverings when entering and inside any place of business or public indoor environment, such as a retail store, grocery store and on the ski lifts. Face coverings are not required when in public outdoor spaces unless six feet of physical distance from non-household members cannot be maintained over a period of 15 minutes or longer.

Steamboat Springs, CO
"Steamboat" is freezing in the wintertime and also very touristy and crowded. People flock from around the world to see the city light up for the holidays, shop, drink whiskey and eat. While there is no denying its allure, you will be paying more for airline tickets, hotel stays and lift tickets than most. You will also have to pack up a lot of warm clothing for the family and have worries you would rather not have while on vacation - like the kids getting sick or a chance of snow shutting the city down.

Family Alternative: Breckenridge, CO
There are a lot of reasons to love "Breck" in the wintertime. First and foremost, it's easy access from Denver International Airport --- 2 hours on a good day.  With four gigantic mountains, numerous half-pipes and the highest chairlift in the county, it's no wonder Breck is listed in the top 5 ski resorts in the world by Skier Magazine. Ski runs are 13% beginner, 23% intermediate, 36% advanced and 28% expert. Located only 90 miles west of Denver, it's easy to fly-in for a weekend adventure in The Rocky Mountains. Choose from numerous one bedroom, two bedroom, three bedroom or four bedroom ski-in and ski-out vacation rental lodging options with access to almost 200 ski trails and easy access to historic downtown. Masks/Coverings are required in Breckenridge. Restaurants are currently operating at reduced occupancy in all dining establishments.  Advanced reservations are highly recommended. All restaurants are required to close at 11:00pm by public health order.
Lodging safety regulations have been amplified.  Events and festivals are continuously being postponed and re-imagined as we are navigating this pandemic. Activity and tours availability are continuously changing, we suggest reaching out to your activity provider for their most up to date availability and safety regulations.

Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, CA
While Mammoth Mountain is certainly on the warmer side in the wintertime, peak season starts in January when the area starts to get over-populated. Tourist prices also increase and become more cost-prohibitive. If your kids are on the younger side, wait until they're a little bit older for this visit so they can navigate the wind. It is often really windy and a peaceful conversation on the chair lift can be out of the question, that’s of course if the lift is running.

Unspoiled Luxury Alternative: Beaver Creek, CO
Beaver Creek is known for its year-round sunshine, stunning landscape, downtown village, starry nights, and surprisingly, it's also a real family getaway. It's an easy drive from Denver at only 2 hours and 15 minutes from Vail.  This unspoiled resort has a lot to offer every skill level and taste.  It's not surprising that Beaver Creek was voted the most "luxurious ski resort in North America" by Gondola Resorts.  Beaver Creek's motto is, "Not exactly roughing it".  And, you won't be if staying at The Bachelor Gulch Ritz-Carlton, The Charter, The Borders, Park Hyatt Residence Club or one of the multi-million dollar ski homes towering next to the slopes.  At 4pm the village comes alive with free chocolate chip cookies for everyone.

Visiting Colorado Mountain Resorts for the Upcoming 2020/21 Ski Season
August 2020

2019/20 Opening Day skier at Vail Ski Resort Colorado

Due to the fact that United States citizens can only leave the country to visit 28 other countries in the world currently, many Americans are choosing to travel to the beautiful and luxurious destinations that reside within our own borders. Colorado has remained one of the more progressive states throughout the coronavirus pandemic. With that said, we are delighted to say that the upcoming 2020/2021 ski season will still be taking place this winter.

Here are some things to keep in mind and be aware of while booking your vacation with Gondola Resorts as the winter season approaches:

SAFETY FIRST

Health and safety will always be a top priority for Gondola Resorts, and we will be alerting guests of the guidelines to keep everyone safe during their stay.  Guests should anticipate the required use of facial masks within the mountain towns and all other parts of Colorado, as it is a present law. The use of hand sanitizer is also highly recommended as you travel to your destination here in Colorado. Be mindful that wearing your mask and using hand sanitizer allows for the resorts and mountain towns to remain cleaner and safer for all people.

SOCIAL DISTANCE

At this moment in time, Colorado is continuing to enforce social distancing as much as possible whether at restaurants, hotels, or in any enclosed building. As our guests enter the Colorado Mountains, we encourage all groups and families that are traveling together to social distance from other groups of people with a minimum of six feet in between both groups. The more you choose to social distance, the safer the environment becomes for you and all other mountain travelers. Practicing social distancing isn’t necessarily about protecting yourself; it’s about protecting the most vulnerable people in our community. We all need to champion social distancing and other healthy behaviors where we live, work, and play.

AIM FOR DIRECT FLIGHTS

During this time of a worldwide pandemic, it is best to try and book direct flights to and from your vacation destinations. If you have made reservations in Aspen, the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport (ASE) would be the closest and most convenient airport to travel through. For all other rental properties that Gondola Resorts offers, the closest airport to travel through would be Denver International Airport (DIA). Choosing to book direct flights will eliminate traveling stress and lower your chances of interacting with the virus while you navigate your way to your destination.

3 major airlines have non-stop flights into the Aspen/Pitkin county airport which includes United, American, and Frontier Airlines. Aspen/ Snowmass is now one of the most accessible ski resorts in the entire Rocky Mountain region with a total of 198 flights per week during ski season and 270 total flights during the holiday season. The airport is a short 3-mile ride to the excitement of downtown Aspen and 4 miles to Snowmass Village.

Direct flights to Aspen/Pitkin county airport and Denver International Airport

For Vail and Beaver Creek, nonstop air service is provided from 11 major U.S cities and one international location including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Newark, Phoenix, Toronto, and Washington DC.

There are multiple flights daily to and from Denver International Airport to allow connections through Denver
.

BOOK WITH ONE COMPANY

If you enjoy vacationing stress free with all of your traveling, rental, and activity information in one place, then it is in your best interest to book through one company. There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to Travel Planners. In this fast-paced digital world, why would anyone use a travel planner when they could just book their own trip online, right? Well, not exactly. You certainly can book your own Colorado ski vacation, but we wouldn’t recommend it. You may have a few options to book only rentals or activities, which can lead to some confusion when you finally arrive at your destination.  Don’t be fooled!

While there are plenty of online resources to go it alone, the truth is, booking your ski vacation with a specialized Gondola Resorts travel planner can bring a lot of added value to your trip. And since not all travel agencies are created equal, then it’s especially important to work with a reputable one. You should always book your vacation with our agents so that everything is done correctly and, ultimately, your trip is as magical as it can be. In terms of travel companies, there are deals going on this year due to the fact that plans and regulations around the world are changing rapidly. Gondola Resorts also offers the option to pay only $49.00 down for new reservations checking-in after June 1, 2020! Pay the remaining balance 7-days prior to arrival in the summer and fall, and 21-days prior to arrival during the winter season. This particular deal allows guests to accumulate a planned-out vacation at any of our beautiful properties as well as ensuring that it is safe to travel during the time you choose to holiday.

MAKE A COMPLETE VACATION PLAN

Booking with one travel company allows for guests to endure a seamless and well-put-together plan when booking a vacation. We suggest printing out your receipts, writing down the itinerary for your planned stay at any of our mountain towns, and doing research before you are ready to leave for your exciting adventure to our extraordinary Colorado Mountains. Gondola Resorts is here to help with any questions and/or concerns you have regarding your vacation stay and plans. We value your business and will always dedicate the time it takes to provide our guests with a relaxing and luxurious vacation.

Gondola Resorts can plan and book your vacation rental accommodations, advance lift tickets, ski lessons, airport transfers, and much more. The agency is well-versed and fully authorized to book travel for the finest ski resort destinations in Colorado.  Whether it’s a family vacation, honeymoon, romantic getaway, or just a solo trip away from the grind, Gondola Resorts is best suited for Colorado ski vacations because they are based in Colorado. And of course, these services are 100% complimentary. Unless you already know all there is to know about Colorado ski resorts, there’s really no downside in having someone on your side to help you plan your trip.

A Summer Visit to The Arrabelle Hotel in Vail

July 2020

Four-Bedroom Luxury Condominium at The Arrabelle Hotel, Vail Colorado

The Arrabelle at Vail Square is a picturesque castle-like village that offers top tier lodging, dining, and amenities. This extravagant resort lies at the base of Vail’s grand mountains where some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the world exists.

At first sight, walking through Lionshead Village takes your breath away just at the sheer beauty of the intricate architecture that sits on this quaint piece of land. The bridge that connects to the lavish east and west wings of the Arrabelle Resort greets you with the glittering string of lights that greet you from the second you enter into the world of Vail.

Waking up in Vail's world-class 2 bedroom condominium, I kept my blinds open in order to be woken up by the glistening morning sun. I threw on some comfy clothes and drove to the Cucina Restaurant located next to the Vail Mountain Resort. I had a lovely cup of coffee and the Chef’s Benedict, which was marvelous, I find myself visiting Cucina every time I visit Vail.

My week staying in Vail also included a meeting with some close friends to play a round of golf. As a guest of The Arrabelle at Vail Square, I was able to enjoy an exclusive chance to tee it up at the award-winning Red Sky Ranch, with side-by-side courses designed by Tom Fazio and Greg Norman. Summer in Vail is just as spectacular and magical as the city is during the winter season. I discovered the endless activities that Vail offers in all season throughout the year. Sarah, at the Gondola Resorts reservations office, assisted my curiosity by helping me find a list of those activities that allowed me to see every activity I could pick and choose to do at any point of my stay.

Summer activities are endless in this town; I sincerely could not fit everything I wanted to do during my one week stay. I was able to golf with friends, try several of the luxurious Spa treatments in their 10,000-square-foot signature spa, and spend an afternoon in the sun paddle boarding one of the several bodies of water that the Arrabelle offers. The stunning lobby and fireplaces also greeted me after my long days of adventuring and checking things off my long-list of things to do in Vail.

There are over 33,000-square-feet of unique shops, boutiques, art galleries, fine restaurants, and people to meet the second you arrive at the superb slope side retreat. This resort is positively one of the most enchanting places I have been in the entire world. No matter what season you decide to book your stay in Vail, at The Arrabelle, there is always something new to do, see, and try. I could not recommend this resort enough after my lovely stay in the stunning dreamland of Vail. Thank you to Gondola Resorts and The Arrabelle for allowing me to be adventurous and experience a week of extraordinary comfort and relaxation this summer. I will be returning very soon to have another incredible vacation of world-renowned luxury and magic.

What guests want now—and what we are doing about it

Gondola Resorts is taking action to evolve the vacation experience

June 2020

The Arrabelle at Vail Square.  Vail, Colorado.

As summer travel returns to Colorado mountain resorts, Gondola Resorts is implementing strategies that adapt specifically to customer's needs. "We’ve continued to gather information from various guest surveys and online questionnaires and put those results to work so all guests feel comfortable booking", says Sarah Taylor, Director of Customer Service. Here’s what guests are saying they want in order to make the trip:

We want the ability to book "last-minute"

With some travel restrictions still in place, it’s hard to plan vacations way into the future. While travel varies by region, recently almost one-third of bookings have been made within a week of travel. In all cases, Gondola Resorts has offered "instant bookings" via their website booking engine giving customers a quick and simple way to confirm a reservation.

We want more space and privacy

Like all of us, guests want companies to take extra steps to protect themselves—and they want to know what those extra steps are before they check-in to their vacation home. In recent surveys, the majority of past and prospective guests noted they’d feel more comfortable booking a vacation rental home, condo or town home on GondolaResorts.com than at a small hotel. Some guests pointed out that they want to isolate by booking a private residence and away from other guests.  Surveys overwhelmingly suggest that guests still want to utilize the amenities like hot tubs, pools and fitness facilities but are concerned about social distancing.  Gondola Resorts has issued updates for its locations that give valuable information related to this topic and encourages social distancing by offering lockbox checkin. This minimizes person-to-person contact by avoiding routine maintenance during a guest’s visit.

We want flexibility to cancel with no penalty

Those who are thinking about traveling are understandably wanting more flexibility during these uncertain times. Being able to modify or cancel a reservation encourages guests to go ahead and book.  Thus, Gondola Resorts has updated cancellation policies across the board.  Previous strict policies have been switched to a flexible or moderate options that best suits their needs

We want to be assured that the unit we rent is clean and free of germs

Cleanliness is more important than ever. While there is no way to ensure zero risk of infection, there is a need to elevate cleaning routines to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.  All housekeeping services that service Gondola Resorts rentals have already committed to an enhanced cleaning protocol, which can be found on the company's homepage.  "Due to the coronavirus, housekeeping services are taking extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations. Ultimately, many decisions are individual, but remember our individual decisions affect others. We’re all called upon to protect ourselves and our neighbor.  So, stay home when you're sick, and wear a mask when out in public,” says Gino Malara, President and General Manager of Gondola Resorts.

Gondola Resorts' Cleaning and Sanitizing Reaches New Levels to Protect Guests

The "Gondola Resorts Sanitized Stay" Campaign to Launch in Most Markets by June.

May 2020

Gondola Resorts will introduce new cleaning procedures at the vacation rentals they offer starting in June.
The program called "Gondola Resorts SanitizedStay" stems from its cleaning partners taking extra steps to promote health and safety.  The initiatives are meant to expand on current cleaning procedures and optimizes the time and training that housekeepers spend while caring for a vacation home.

The new cleaning procedures, in various ways, exceeds guidelines recommended by government agencies and hospitality experts. The ultimate goal for every location is to rid germs and viruses that may be present on everything from door knobs, flooring, countertops, showers, light switches, railings, appliances and more.  As usual, fresh linens, towels, toiletries and essentials are provided at all properties upon arrival.

"As the coronavirus spreads, it's essential to assure guest safety and peace of mind when offering our vacation homes to our valued guests," said Gino Malara, Gondola Resorts President and General Manager.  "Our resort and property management partners are following protocols and best practices to, in turn, allow guests to feel safe.  We have the best partners in the vacation rental industry, and it's a duty they have embraced in an effort to provide a cleaner and healthier guest experience".

To expand health and safety at our six Colorado mountain locations, guests should expect expanded cleaning and safety measures like:
  • Disinfectants used that are approved by the Environmental Protection Agency
  • Housekeepers using gloves and masks while cleaning vacation homes
  • Housekeepers concentrating on disinfecting high-touch surfaces
  • Employees wearing personal protective equipment
  • Contactless check-in where some locations will have lockbox or smartbox systems to retrieve keys
  • Washing and drying towels at high temperatures
  • Assuring that employees practice social distancing with all guests
  • The Dishwasher has been run at high temperature and left empty for the next renter
The enhanced cleaning procedures are necessary until the spread of the Coronavirus has been completely stopped.  Until then, these enhanced programs are intended to ensure guest safety while they enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Colorado's Mountain Resorts.

In Memory of a Shortened Colorado Ski Season.  More Importantly, a Celebration of Health, Prosperity and What's to Come.
April 2020

Dear Guests,

I want to take this time to thank all of you for trusting Gondola Resorts with your past Colorado vacation. Our 2019/20 winter ski season came to an abrupt halt, but not until we had the privilege of meeting and greeting many of you. We will miss seeing you this spring, but look forward to a day when we can welcome you back to Colorado's mountain resorts.

We are all in this together, and will do our part to monitor the COVID-19 situation and will follow guidance from public health officials and government agencies, so we can continue to support you and welcome you back.

As John Denver so eloquently said, "Commit yourself to do whatever it is you can contribute in order to create a healthy and sustainable future - the world needs you desperately. Find that in yourself and make a commitment - that is what will change the world."

For more information about COVD-19 and what you can do to keep healthy and safe, visit the Centers for Disease Control at cdc.gov or your local health department's website.

Safety, health & prosperity,

Gino Malara

Year in Review:  Top 2 Gondola Resorts Keystone Reviews From 2019

The Gondola Resorts customer service team looks back at 2019 to locate our top 8 guest reviews (2 are listed from Keystone Resort).  During all of our guest visits, our team works to earn a 5 star review.  This is very important to the men and women who work at Gondola Resorts in Aspen, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Snowmass and Vail.  More importantly, we want our guests to experience a 5-star trip, and we work diligitaly to assure this happens.

Think about the times you have been on the fence about confirming a lodging reservation and only committted because of positive reviews from others.  Thus, we see the value in receiving not only positive reviews, but on occasion, we've learned from negative reviews. Sometimes, it feels awkward asking guests for reviews on so many online platforms, but most of the time people will happily share their opinions...and we appreciate it.

The Timbers 3057 - Keystone, Colorado

"Stayed in Keystone. This remains one of my favorite ski resorts in Colorado itself, mostly because it is fantastic for families and little kids. It has great outdoor recreation, good places to eat, and really excellent beginner slopes. Working with Gondola Resorts was a great experience- condo was clean, staff both on-site and over phone were excellent!.  Enjoyed the convenience of Timbers 3057 which was ski-in and ski-out in River Run Village."

LONE EAGLE CONDO - Keystone, Colorado
"The condo was wonderful. We loved making s’mores outside by the fire pit and seeing all the skiers. We also enjoyed the fire place in our condo and the views of the snow were stunning. The shuttles were easily accessible and hardly any wait time to take us from place to place. Our condo also had a trail way to get to the shops and restaurants at our resort. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone! We had a blast!"

Aspen Leads Nation with $7.1M Average Residential Real Estate Transactions

Want to live and work in Aspen, Colorado? Well, it's going to cost you. The average home has skyrocketed to $7.1 million, the strongest growth in the cities history. With an average sold price per square foot of $1,579, Aspen continues to boast it's millionaire and celebrity list. Well, let me correct that statement. The billionaires have run off the millionaires. The latter has been pushed to regions outside the city limits including Carbondale and even Glenwood Springs. Even Amazon's Jeff Bezos and parents have jumped on the Aspen Billionaire list by building a massive home on lower Red Mountain although they've been residents since 1999. "Aspen is the richest city in the world," says Gino Malara of Gondola Resorts. "Consider the people who live there and it makes sense why others want to follow."

We're also seeing all time highs in the Aspen vacation rental market with homes and condos up 290% compared to the same time last year. The number of transactions have increased, rising 398%.  We saw the strongest Aspen condo rentals within the downtown core region in July which averaged $823.00 per night. Average in the St. Regis, Grand Hyatt, and Ritz-Carlton Residence Club condos and the number exceeds $1,200 per night. Unlike most ski resort towns, Aspen visitors stay much longer in the summer time with average short term vacations at 11.2 days. Take for example Keystone Resort Colorado that averages 3.2 days in the summer.

This year a lot of money was made in the growing stock market, and it makes sense that people spend that money on luxury vacations and real estate investment. Of course, low interest rates have helped springboard both since the devastating affect of the financial crisis.

Next time, we'll share data that focuses more on the 2017 luxury vacation rental home industry in Aspen and Snowmass around the holiday season where typical Christmas and New Years rentals range from $5 - $25K per night with the largest homes exceeding 10,000 square feet. Of course, square footage isn't the sole driver of these prices. If you have a ski/in ski/out home in Aspen, your nightly rent will easily surpass $15K per night during the Christmas holiday season. Ho Ho Ho!
